Jerome Township, Ohio: Nine-Month Moratorium
Jerome Township, just outside Columbus, has enacted a nine-month moratorium on new data center construction, underscoring Ohio’s emergence as a data center hotbed — and the tensions that come with it. Township trustees emphasized the move was not anti-data center, but intended to give the community time to evaluate how rapid growth is affecting residents.

Tucson, Arizona
In August, the city council in Tucson, Arizona, voted to shelve an unnamed party’s 290-acre data center 
proposal following objections from residents. In September, Google scrapped plans for a 470-acre site to 
be located in Indiana after protestors mounted signs that read “NO GOOGLE DATA CENTER,” and 
voiced concerns about strains on the power grid and loss of farmland.

St. Charles, Missouri,  places a 1-year pause on data center projects
A Friday vote by the St. Charles City Council to place a one-year moratorium in response to
 community pushback on a proposed data center on the city’s west side -- received widespread
pushback from over 5,500 residents The moratorium applies to all potential data center projects and 
expansions being considered in the city.Project Cumulus was pulled from the agenda by the developer 
before the city council had a chance to vote on it this past Tuesday. The developer said it plans to retool
the proposal to address community concerns.
